Ramsey County Regional Railroad Authority is looking for artists to join their public art program at Union Depot in St. Paul. There are descriptions of the projects, and links to the RFPs (below), as well as a web version of the imformation .
They have just posted two Supplemental Calls to Artists for two projects:
Waiting Room Historical/Multicultural Murals
The first RFP requests applications from artists or artist teams to create a series of six painted murals in the grand 300-foot waiting room. The history of Union Depot is rich with historical and cultural stories. A goal of this artwork commission is to celebrate that multicultural history and provide the public with a greater appreciation of the human aspect of Union Depot. "Human Scale: Furniture, Small Objects and Other Surprising Amenities"
The second RFP requests artist applications and design concepts for smaller-scale artworks for Union Depot. These artworks are opportunities for functional elements of the transportation hub to be made unique, or even transformed into whimsical expressions of creativity. Up to 10 finalists will be invited to develop and submit a more refined design proposal for their small-scale artwork, and the Union Depot Art Selection and Design Review Panel will recommend selection of the best proposals that fit within a $50,000 budget. It is intended that these small-scale commissions are accessible to smaller artist studios and emerging public artists, or those who do not already have a repertoire of large-scale public artworks.
