Alumni "Take the Field" at South High

Plan to "Take the Field" on October 11th and join hundreds of Minnesotans to transform South High Athletic Field into a living, breathing timeline illustrating our place in the cosmos. Giant projections and audio broadcasts will provide the backdrop for more than 500 students and an assortment of artistic geniuses from the Twin Cities. Bring your friends and pay attention, surprise yourself, and have fun creating a work of art that will be visible from outer space (assuming you are looking down with incredible digital zoom).

TIME: block party at 5PM // Field Activities at 7PM
PLACE: corner of 21st Ave S & 31st St
the South High Athletic Field and adjacent streets

Using the elimination of yellow school bus service as a starting place, the accompanying block party will celebrate the transformation of
21st Ave S into a walking and cycling corridor for the students of South High School. "Take the Field" will begin at dusk. Simple choreography of a small army will create a spectacle for everyone on the field and in the stands. Afterward, a family-friendly movie will be screened, so bring a blanket and a picnic meal and stretch out to relax.

This event is a collaboration between three public space artists-Janaki Ranpura, Andrea Steudel, and Meena Mangalvedhekar (JAM)-and the Corcoran Neighborhood Organization, presented in partnership with Forecast Public Art.
