Bohemian Press @ Juxtaposition Arts

UROP x Juxtaposition Summer Project

Professor Jenny Schmid is using her UROP grant to lead a collaborative project between the Bohemian Press and Juxtaposition Arts, an organization that works with youth in North Minneapolis. Along with alum/adjunct professor Drew Peterson (BA '09) and current undergraduate Emma Crutcher-McGowan, students from Bohemian Press will work with Juxtaposition Arts to outfit their facilities and expand the printmaking skills of their students. This summer program will take place over the course of five workshop days, but aims to create a lasting tie between the two organizations.

From Emma Crutcher-McGowan, BoPress President:
Through the experience of creating 2-D print media, the youth employees of Juxtaposition will expand their skill set in the art of screenprinting; learning about registration techniques, attention to detail, and and other aspects of the method.  They will also learn how to create a screenprinting setup without all the fancy and expensive tools and machines found in formal printmaking studios. This knowledge will support the concept of self-sufficiency and DIY printmaking.
